Montréal, May 27, 2014 --- The Association of Québec Landlords (APQ) is outraged by the obstinacy of Québec Solidaire wanting to table a bill preventing eviction of tenants from 1 December to 31 March and the repossession of the dwelling when one of the occupants of the housing is aged 65 or older.

The delay of the tax bill in Montreal does not only affect the tenants but also the owners of rental housing

The one-month delay in the sending out of the property tax bill by the City of Montreal has consequences on the notices of rent increase.

“Changes in property tax, school and insurance bills are, according to the calculation form issued annually by the Régie du logement, chargeable to the tenants. That is to say, for the year 2014, one will have to calculate the difference between the year 2013 and the income tax bill receivable in 2014,” says Martin Messier, President of the APQ.

The Quebec Landlords Association( APQ ) states that the new assessment roll will result in an increase in housing prices. With a new assessment roll in force for 2014-2015-2016 , owners of rental housings will see an increase in their assessment averaged at 21.2% , while 24.3% is the average for buildings with six or more units.

Eviction of an occupant without right: APQ supports your request

A first in Quebec, the Quebec Landlords  Association (APQ) takes charge  of your case of eviction of an occupant without the right or fees.

One of the worst things that can happen on July 1st or any date of termination of the lease is that the tenant decides to remain in the housing. Your old, "in theory", tenant does not want to leave and your new is at the front door. If you are unable to make him see reason, you need to open a file at the Rental Board for "Eviction of an occupant without law." This request is processed first.
