The APQ has provided more than one solution this year:
- In order to avoid undesirable consequences during the construction strike in June 2013 the APQ has made the tenants and the landlords aware about the rules surrounding verbal renewal of the lease for one month, the non-departure of a tenant ... etc. We have also set up a warehouse business directory, and a directory of movers who still had room to help people move in late June 2013.
- You found yourself burdened with a tenant who did not want to leave on July 1st? The APQ has taken care of your demands for “Eviction of an occupant without right.”
On April 10, 2013 the Association of Quebec Landlords (APQ) was consulted on legislation allowing a disabled person to be always accompanied by his/her dog. Following a petition submitted the request was to adopt a law that allows a person with a disability to be accompanied by his/her service dog not only in a public place, but also in his place of residence, whether this place is a condominium unit or a rental unit.
In September 2013, following the special consultations and public hearings on Bill 28, An Act to enact the new Code of Civil Procedure, the APQ submitted to the commission its reservations and comments, more in particular regarding the extension of time before the eviction of a tenant.
On November 27, 2013 were published in the Gazette officielle du Québec the Draft amendments to the Regulations concerning the mandatory lease forms and the particulars of a notice forwarded to a new lessee. The Association of Quebec Landlords (APQ), which had been consulted on this in 2012, wanted to make its recommendations.
