When a refusal to accommodate becomes discriminatory
In the face of a tenant’s disability, the landlord must show a certain degree of flexibility. This principle was reaffirmed in a 2025 decision. In that case, the tenants (a couple) had been living in their unit for more than 10 years when the woman suffered a workplace accident. Following surgery, she was left paraplegic and now had to use a wheelchair.
